DLI search and PGWP eligibility

Search the 1,433 campuses on IRCC's official list: DLI number, province, type of institution and whether it offers programs eligible for a post-graduation work permit.

A designated learning institution (DLI) is a school approved by a provincial or territorial government to host international students. A study permit application requires a letter of acceptance from a DLI. Search by institution name, city or DLI number.

    How to read the results

    • PGWP: yes: the institution offers programs that make graduates eligible to apply for a PGWP.
    • PGWP: some programs: only certain programs are eligible. IRCC publishes the list for each institution; follow the link in the result.
    • PGWP: no: the institution may host international students, but its programs do not lead to a PGWP.
    • The DLI number starts with the letter O. It goes on the study permit application, under the details of intended study in Canada.

    General PGWP requirements

    The institution's eligibility is only one of the conditions. According to IRCC, in general the applicant must:

    • have completed a program of at least 8 months (900 hours in Quebec) at a PGWP-eligible DLI;
    • have maintained full-time student status in each semester (the last one may be part-time);
    • apply within 180 days of confirmation that the program was completed, with a study permit that was valid at some point during that period;
    • meet the language and field-of-study requirements, where applicable.

    Graduates of English or French as a second language (ESL/FSL) programs are not eligible. Programs delivered by private colleges under curriculum licensing agreements with a public institution are not eligible in most cases. Special cases with exceptions exist.
