Study permit and extensions
Study permits for designated learning institutions across Canada, plus in-Canada extensions.
What’s included
- DLI program guidance
- Solid proof-of-funds plan with acceptable documentation
- Compelling statement of purpose
- IMM1294 preparation
- In-Canada extensions if applicable
- PGWP (Post-Graduation Work Permit) strategy after graduation
Why the right plan matters
A poorly structured study permit limits your path to permanent residence afterward. We design your program with the next step in mind: PGWP, Express Entry, or provincial nomination.
FAQ
What is a DLI?
Designated Learning Institution — IRCC-approved school for international students. Only DLI programs qualify you for a study permit. We confirm your institution’s status.
How much money do I need to show?
IRCC requires CAD $20,635/year (outside Quebec, 2024 figure) plus tuition and transportation. The proof-of-funds plan can mix bank balance, GIC, scholarships, and family sponsorship letters.
Does SDS apply to LatAm applicants?
Yes, Mexico and several LatAm countries are on the SDS list (Student Direct Stream), which speeds up processing when requirements are met.
Can I work while studying?
Yes, up to 24 hours/week off-campus during the school term (cap raised from 20 to 24 in 2024) and full-time during scheduled breaks.
